Enjoying Holiday Music

Every year, I look forward to the Christmas holiday season. I love decorating a large, beautiful tree, baking delicious, seasonal desserts, going to holiday parties, and spending time with my parents at their farm. Because I’m a singer and a musician, I also like to listen to Christmas music. Sometimes, I listen to holiday tunes for several hours at the time. Whether I’m cleaning my home, driving down the road, or cooking dinner, my mood instantly improves after listening to some of my favorite holiday songs. On this blog, I hope you will gain an appreciation for holiday music. Enjoy!

Blog

When you seek out a career in the industry of music, one of the best ways to set your path forward is to see how others came before you. Every career journey is different, but you can gather a lot of tips and suggestions from those who came before you.

If you are an aspiring songwriter, there are multiple things to look for when you read interviews with the best songwriters. Check out some of the details and learn what to take from each time you deep dive into those interviews.

1. The Formation of Ideas

Starting a song from scratch may feel like a daunting task, but other songwriters may give you insight into their process. Learn the different tricks and habits a songwriter goes through to develop the concept for a song, the lyrics, and a catchy chorus. You may learn tips about handwriting lyrics or finding a quiet place to actually work the song out.

Through the tips, you can find some new methods to try and some ways to find inspiration of your own. For example, some songwriters may overhear conversations or snippets of dialogue that can branch-off and lead to a catchy song. The little tricks can help you create your own songs and give you new ways to find inspiration.

2. The Songwriting Process

Songwriting can start in a number of different ways. Some writers may have a beat first, may hear a chord on a guitar, or start off with the lyrics. When you hear about the various methods, you can select the best options to fit your own process and learn some key tips for starting.

For example, you do not need a complete band to start a song. Some songwriters may just play around with music software to get beats and styles to work with. In an interview, you can learn about what software or apps songwriters play around with to help with the styles and formats.

3. Demos & Samples

After a song is written, where do you go next? Aspiring songwriters can find some options through songwriter interviews. Songwriters may record full demos with accomplished singers or put together some sample snippets of the song so potential buyers can hear what the hook of a song will sound like.

The post-writing process includes a lot of options. Through interviews, an aspiring writer will learn what works best for them and ways to turn a written song into a produced song.

When you read songwriter interviews, look for archives of past interviews to gather as much information as possible.
